…and yet, more on Wake Up Calls….
I believe we all get “wake up” calls. In fact, we’ve all probably had a series of them since birth. We are given guidance and signs all the time. Even when they seem tragic, (like accidents, health traumas, etc.) most are the universe pushing us to grow into our greater, more “divine” selves.
Again, we get lots of little signs along the way, if we continue to ignore them, then the bigger the “wake up calls” will be. How many times have you tried and failed to change – only to realize that from the beginning your efforts were just half assed? You either didn’t really want that change or perhaps, you had a core belief that prevented the change. You may say you are on a “Life Changing Journey” but are really just going through the motions of fooling yourself or the people around you into thinking you are “doing” it. Lip service doesn’t count for anything in the grand scheme of things.
Einstein once said, “God doesn’t play dice,” –meaning that the universe leaves nothing to chance. The universe (God) can’t be fooled, but does allow you free will and free choice. It is really up to each individual to use his/her own free will and free choice to change.
So have you ever had a time in your life where you started asking yourself, “What on earth is going on?” You know the kind of time where one crisis after another comes up and you start trying to figure out what you did in a past life to bring on this crap/crisises on? Probably just hints from the universe that it is time to change… you probably set something in motion but never followed through. (My, oh my, haven’t we all done that?)
Sometimes I feel like I am getting yet another wakeup call from some Grand Resort in the multi-dimensional universe. It will start out by saying “Diane, Diane, Diane… you have overslept once again… this time due to some sort of contrabanded polar fleece blanket that you bought and covered your head with. These blankets turn your whole “being” into fuzzy mush. We understand that you just wanted a break, but you are violating a prime law of the multi-dimensional universe… The law that states that you agreed to be a contributing member of the ongoing creation of this new reality. You can’t do it if your entire psyche is in a DOZE under that polar fleece blanket. Take it off your head and WAKE UP. Time to participate.” Remember now, these are the kind of wakeup calls I am getting now…. Sometimes I don’t know why I stick my head under a polar fleece blanket… fear in general of the unknown? Fear of doing something wrong? Fear of doing something right? Who knows – I just know that sometimes I get stuck and hide.
If we have to deal with something often enough, we can shoulder it like it is nothing (you know we are all good little soldiers) – even the terrible burdens. But if we do, we can also become numb or indifferent to the pattern/way we’re living. This may include good/positive as well as the bad/negative. When the circumstances are good or positive, we call it taking it for granted. When they are bad/negative, we call it stress or trauma. What is interesting in both cases is that the state many people find themselves in is actually sorta angry. One (trauma, stress) is easy to understand, the other (good) one isn’t. Why would someone be angry when their life is basically a pleasant one? In both cases, their lives are being led unconsciously, dozing under their polar fleece blankets, instead of being awake and participating in life literately—they are dozing as they go through their day, only half aware of what is going on. The traumatized person as well as the pleasure saturated person both feel like their “true” lives have been stolen or wasted away.
Getting rid of the polar fleece blanket:
1. We go around doing, choosing and creating though our imaginations our reality
2. We reinforce that reality by accepting that perhaps – life is “boss”..accepting that we are here.
3. Take a look at any reinforcing statements that keep your reality intact. Not to see if they are true, but to see if it is what you truly want.
4. Really ask yourself if you are living the life you want. Your dissatisfaction could be growing out of outside assumptions like “I shoulds”. If this is the case, ask yourself “If I put that idea aside, do I like my life?”
5. Really allow and accept who are you, flaws that you perceive you have and all.
6. Ask yourself, “Ideal world, ideal day – what would a day in my life look like?” This is usually a very difficult one for people because we are impeded by the idea at some level within us that it is bad to totally enjoy ourselves.
So, you are living in that ideal world in that ideal day – notice all the details in both the foreground and in the background. Pay attention to your emotions, what you are doing, who you are with, everything…. It is fuzzy or clear? Are the colors of your day vivid or dull? Is the picture just that – with a frame hung on a wall or is it a full scene and you, the viewer, are standing watching? Or are you in the first person and actually doing what you see? The more directly involved, clear, bright, vivid and emotionally happy you are in your scene, the closer you are to seeing that as an accurate picture of what you really want. When you get a picture like that, your brain can’t tell imagination from memory if the scene is really congruent, vivid and emotionally powerful. Your brain will tend to thin the scene is already accomplished.
There is another thing for you to know, when you’ve made up your mind on what you really want, the change you want, do close the door to “no” and maybe”… instead focus on, “Yes, I can do this” and do the do.
So as you go forward… be guided by “Do no harm” and “Is this right for me?” “What works for me?” “Why not – pursue your dream – enjoy your life, etc.?” Be careful of diseases of the status que the “Yeahbutosis and Expertitis. Point out your possibilities to sufferers of these conditions and they will say, “Yeah BUT, it can’t be done because it’s never been done, so that means it can’t be done and I should know because I am an expert in my field.”
It doesn’t matter what kind of a life you are living now – these two questions “What works? Why not?” These are the best at giving any of us answers to that wakeup call to the REAL possibilities that exist around us every moment of every day…
Suppose you have had enough of my eloquent bombardment of ardent verbage (yep, browbeating) today… so I’m off…. Coffee has been brewed for the past few hundred words…. I step off my high horse now……

Dianification in the nicest of ways! I need to read this one a few more times, I think. Some days, some times of day, I am so clear and feel fully engaged, but at other times I may be wrapped in fleece.
How do I tell the difference between being disengaged and being burned out?
@Breath: I really like that “Inward then upward and outward”.
This isn^t a high horse this is where the rubber meets the road for me.
Looking at the recurring patterns and particularly seeming dissatisfaction with external circumstances has me asking what is getting in the way of my taking action to change outward circumstances?
My inquiry has brought focus and attention to internal patterns of emotion, thought and behavior(many of which are of the unconscious variety) that impede outward change.
Any external changes made would not achieve lasting peace, balance and joy without internal changes(made through becoming more conscious of self-defeating patterns)being the foundation.
Inward then upward and outward!!
[...] is something that has struck me fully today after reading Dianes blog on wake up [...]
I need a blanket removal specialist. Actually, I think you may be one. Your steps make a lot of sense.
I look at my life and I realize that my days are not bringing me the experiences I have want.
I have previously manifested the experiences I have wanted, and then when they arrived I found out I really didn’t enjoy them. I have been trying to decide what I do want, and the picture remains blurry. However your article has inspired me to work on focusing my picture into reality.
